Can Hypnosis Help Me with my phobias, such as fear of heights, flying, spiders etc?
Does the mere sight of a spider have you screaming for help? Do heights leave your knees shaking and your palms sweaty? Does a potential dentist visit give you palpitations? Does flying on a plane need a drink or medications to enable you to go?
Is your phobia limiting your life? Stopping you going to certain holiday destinations? Preventing you from looking after your health? Excluding you from activities with friends and family? Are you worried about passing on your phobia to your children?
There is no need to suffer any longer. If you have a specific phobia this can be dealt with in just four sessions. If you have a non-specific phobia e.g. crowded places this has developed as a result of a more generalised anxiety and will need on average eight to twelve sessions.
A specific phobia occurs when we experience an incident that causes fear, the stronger the emotional reaction to the incident (the more fear we experienced) the stronger the memory that is formed and stored in the brain.
Each time a similar experience occurs the brain reminds us of the fear we experienced previously, as a result our anxiety levels go up and the memory and the fear surrounding it becomes even stronger.
If we keep having these strong emotional responses over a period of time our brain will actively work to encourage us to avoid any experience that seems similar, it will do this by triggering a stress response in us, that feeling of anxiety and fear, reminding us of all the worst-case scenarios that are unlikely to ever happen.
If you live in Stockport or the surrounding area Panacea Hypnotherapy can help you. With solution focused hypnotherapy and specific phobias, I remove the strong emotional response to the initial event and replace your negative thoughts and feelings with positive ones.
With non-specific phobias I work with you to reduce your stress. Removing the stress over a period of time will lower your anxiety response to crowded places, driving on the motorway or whatever else you been avoiding. Once again you will feel able to cope better with those situations and once again be able to participate fully in life.
You may never love heights, flying, spiders etc, but you will finally be able to manage your fear and start doing those things your phobia has prevented you from doing.
